Please read the following carefully.
Fundraising Commitment: A minimum fundraising commitment of $5,000 is required to join Newton-Wellesley Hospital's (NWH) marathon team and receive an individual entry for the 2024 Boston Marathon. Team members will be encouraged to raise $10,000. Upon acceptance of an invitation to run the marathon on NWH's team, you will be required to submit your credit card information and make a personal, non-refundable $100 donation in exchange for the offered number. In the event you are unable to fundraise the required $5,000 runner commitment by May 15, 2024, you will be charged the remaining amount of the fundraising goal up to, but not exceeding $5,000.
To reserve a B.A.A. invitational number in your name until April 15, 2024, NWH requires you to provide a credit card number to be used to satisfy your fundraising minimum following the marathon, if necessary. This credit card information will be collected on the fundraising platform GivenGain once you are accepted to Team NWH. You will not be provided access to register for the 2024 Boston Marathon until we have a valid credit card on file for you.
Fundraising Progress: Fundraising progress will be monitored and evaluated throughout the training cycle. In the event a runner is observed to be having difficulty reaching their goal, NWH Development will establish regular check-ins to ensure a realistic plan is developed to help the runner maximize his/her fundraising potential. Fundraising should commence upon acceptance on the team; GivenGain accounts must be created and an initial gift of $100 made by the runner within two weeks of acceptance on the team.
Matching Gift Policy: Many companies match employees' charitable contributions. Please check with your employer to see if your company offers this program. You can also check with your donors to see if their employers match gifts. Many companies issue matching gift checks quarterly or semi-annually. Therefore, if you plan to use a match to reach your minimum, it is your responsibility to contact the matching company to ensure the check will be received by NWH before May 15, 2024.
Registration: NWH will inform you of the details of B.A.A. registration after your Team NWH Boston Marathon application is accepted. The B.A.A. charges a race entry fee that does not count toward your fundraising minimum. You should NOT contact the B.A.A. directly to secure your number. Once registered through the B.A.A. for the 2024 Boston Marathon, fundraisers are required to meet their $5,000 fundraising commitment, regardless of their ability to compete on race day.
COVID-19: 2024 Boston Marathon runners will comply with all B.A.A protocols and procedures related to COVID-19 mitigation and public health for the 2024 Boston Marathon. In the event the B.A.A. is required to modify its protocols and procedures related to COVID-19 mitigation and public health, Team NWH and its 2024 Boston Marathon registered runners agree to comply. Runners registered for the 2024 Boston Marathon who choose not to comply with B.A.A COVID-19 guidelines will still be required to meet their Team NWH fundraising commitment.
Release Form and Contribution Agreement: In consideration of my accepting this entry, I hereby for myself, my heirs, executors and administrators, waive and release any and all rights for claims and damages I may have against NWH or Mass General Brigham, its employees, volunteers, officers and sponsors for any and all injuries suffered or sustained by me in said event, in the training and planning sessions for said event, or from any of the preceding. I further attest and certify that I am physically fit and have sufficiently trained for competition in the event, and a licensed medical doctor has verified my physical condition. I also grant permission for use of my name and or photograph or voice in broadcast, telecast, print, social media or any other account of this event and agree to waive any compensation for such use. I declare that I have exercised my own judgment in signing this agreement, and I further declare that the decision to sign this agreement was voluntary and not based on or influenced by any representative of NWH.
Electronic Signature Agreement: Runner and NWH have agreed to execute the above terms and conditions by electronic means. By typing in your name in the accompanying electronic application, Runner is signing this Agreement electronically. You agree your electronic signature is the legal equivalent of your handwritten signature. By checking the box stating "I Agree" you consent to be legally bound by this Agreement's terms and conditions.
I agree to fundraise a minimum of $5,000 for Newton-Wellesley Hospital by May 15, 2024. If I have not reached the minimum in fundraising by that date, I will be personally responsible for the balance owed. I understand that Newton-Wellesley Hospital reserves the right to bill the balance I owe to my credit card after May 16, 2024.
After registering with the B.A.A. by February 8, 2024, I must meet fundraising requirements regardless of injury or any other impediments that could prevent me from running the race, as this bib number is non-transferable.
